Down The Rabbit Hole

I've always had an affinity for all things that seem to originate from Wonderland, so when I stumbled across Kirsty Mitchell's Wonderland gallery, I was instantly mesmerized. Eerie, haunting, and utterly romantic, the photographs pull you into rabbit holes of their own. More inspiring than her work is the driving force behind it: her mother, an English teacher who died of a brain tumor. After her mother's death, Kirsty Mitchell's work was saturated with emotion, ever reflecting beauty, sadness, and despair.

"She instilled in me the most precious gift a mother could, her imagination and a belief in beauty…it became my root, and the place I constantly try to return to in my work, and my dreams."

The complete gallery can be viewed here.
